It was developed by a team of 5 peoples and the head of the team is James Gosling the name of the team is Green Team.
Green Team initiated this task to develop a programming language for digital devices such as TV, VCR, Toaster etc. It a an advance concept at that time. But later it was suited for internet programming.
Java was developed by Sun Microsystems in 1991 it takes 18 months to develop and first named oak which was renamed to java in 1995 due to copyright issues.
